Telecare is providing Virtual Inpatient Care services in the acute ward of Kyabram & District Health Service. Supplementary virtual physicians will be assisting current healthcare workers with patient admissions, reviews and ad-hoc support.
What to expect?
As part of this model, patients benefit from expedited admissions, including the option for weekend admission. Patients can expect a level of care consistent with in-person services, with virtual consultations and reviews conducted by healthcare professionals.
Hospitals enjoy streamlined access to specialist expertise, optimising resource allocation. This model allows for patients to be transferred to previously under-utilised satellite hospitals, reducing bed block and enhancing overall hospital capacity.
Additionally, this model supports local GPs burdened with being on-call for hospitals during weekends and after hours, as the virtual physician can shoulder some of the GP’s responsibilities, reducing the risk of burnout among healthcare professionals.
