Dr. Karunaweera is currently serving as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Sunshine Hospital's Adult Acute Psychiatric Unit since August 2012.
Dr. Karunaweera leads the clinical team in providing exceptional care. Additionally, as the lead Consultant Psychiatrist at the Rehabilitation-Community Care Units within MWAMHS since June 2013, she ensures seamless continuity of care for patients transitioning back into the community.
With extensive experience in diverse psychiatric settings, including roles as a Senior Registrar and Registrar in New Zealand, Dr. Karunaweera's compassionate approach and comprehensive training make her a respected leader in the field.
