Referring to Telecare is easy and convenient. This ensures a seamless experience for your patients and significantly lower wait times.

Step 1: Referral
The referrer will first send a referral to Telecare via email, fax or the designated form.  

Step 2: Appointment
Upon receiving a referral, Telecare will coordinate the telehealth appointment to be conducted at your service. Invitations will be extended to either a nurse, general practitioner (GP) or an Aboriginal health worker, allowing your service to have full flexibility to choose the facilitator at the patient end.

MBS item 10983 is available for a practice nurse, an Aboriginal health worker or an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioner providing clinical support during a video conferencing consultation.

Step 3: Consultation
The consultation can either take place at your service or at the patient's own home. A secure video link will be provided for the online telehealth consultation.

Our technology platform allows GPs, Aboriginal health workers and family members to join the consultation with the patient to ensure collaborative care is provided the patient.

After the consultation, the specialist doctor will provide a comprehensive report containing information and recommendations that are relevant to your ongoing care to the referring GP within a week of the consult.
