Getting started

Initial Psychiatric Assessment

Booking your initial assessment

If you require a psychiatric diagnosis and treatment plan, or to support a DVA claim, we’re here to help. Below is a simplified guide on how to start your patient journey with Telecare and receive a medical diagnosis.

  1. 01

    Provide a GP Referral

Telecare requires your GP (or Nurse Practitioner) referral prior to your psychiatric appointment to ensure we can claim via your DVA White/Gold card, also to establish a collaborative care team with your family GP for ongoing care. Please use the Book A Psychiatrist referral form to upload your GP referral.
  2. 02

    Make an Appointment

Once your referral has been received, our booking agent will reach out to you to book a consultation at a suitable time. Telehealth consults are booked using our secure online platform via web-browser, with wait times typically under 4 weeks.

  3. 03

    Prepare for your Consultation

Your consultation will be booked as a telehealth appointment. You will be sent a secure video link which will take you to the online appointment portal. Use any compatible device with internet such as smartphones, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.
